Surface Tension

Mirei Osada · Tomas Vilde · Edda Kron

14 Jun - 27 Sep 2026

Seven paintings, hung at their true size.

The exhibition

Three painters who work the front of the picture until it stops behaving like a surface. Osada builds grounds that are almost nothing - gesso, graphite, a wash of raw umber allowed to settle toward the bottom edge because it was allowed to. Vilde works black until it holds light. Kron paints fields the colour of weather.

The show is hung on one line. Every work in these three rooms centres 150cm above the floor, which is roughly the height at which people look, and nothing has been raised or dropped to make a composition of the wall. What varies is only what the paintings are - a 40 x 50cm study on the same wall as a canvas 320cm across.

Room I opens with the smallest work in the exhibition and gives it 130cm of empty wall before the black. Room II is built around Umber Wash, which needs the wall opposite to stay empty and gets it. Room III holds Horizon Line alone.
